U.S. Air Force Upper Midwest, Performance Based Remediation - Multiple Installations

LRS recently completed an eight-year performance-based task order covering 75 sites spread across seven Air Force installations. LRS completed remedial investigations, soil and groundwater remediation and environmental compliance activities at the sites, which are regulated under both CERCLA and RCRA, depending on the specific regulatory requirements in place at each Air Force Base.

LRS received approval from regulators at one installation to transition from groundwater sampling via low-flow sampling to sampling via passive diffusion bags (PDBs). This optimization resulted in a significant reduction of sampling waste and lifecycle costs of the site.

LRS achieved regulatory site closure of 22 sites, Remedy-in-Place status of 16 sites, Response Complete status of 9 sites, and provided an Optimized Exit Strategy for 22 sites during the period of performance.
